San Juan del Sur is a town of aproxímate 16,000 residents. It is the epicenter of Beach tourism in Nicaragua. Once you see it beautiful bay and beaches it will be difficult to leave.
San Juan del Sur is rich with history dating back over 160 years. We have been visited by Mark Twain and had a part in the California gold rush. Come and see for yourself.
Whatever you are looking for in a beach town you will find it here. We have a local market as well as a supermarket.
We also have a multitude of options in restaurants, sleeping accommodations and activities. If you like to prepare your own fresh seafood, we have a few Acopios (fish markets) from where you can purchase you fresh snapper, tuna, dorado and lobter tails.
As mentioned before we have a wide variety of sleeping accommodations. We can offer a $7 a night hostel up to a $350 dollar a night mansion overlooking the bay of San Juan del Sur.
The main attraction to this part of Nicaragua is the world class surfing. It is almost impossible to catch a flat spell here. Do check your website before coming to make sure you will get waves. The waves are perfectly groomed by the offshore winds that we enjoy 300 days a year. An up and coming attraction is sportfishing. Depending on the time of the year we can hook up on some sails and Dorado. At other times we will be fishing for Snapper and Grouper.
Our most popular surfing beaches are Madera to the North and Remanso, Tamarindo, Hermosa and Yankee to the south. There are some beautiful beaches where you can just relax such as Costa Blanca, Guacalito, Brasilito, El Trebol, and El Coco
There is no shortage of partying in San Juan del Sur if that is what you want to do. The two main party scenes are Henry's Iguana Bar and The Crazy Crab. You will also find a nice party scene at the Pier and at Mango Rosa Resort. Don't leave town before enjoyin a happy hour at Pelican Eyes. One of the nicest sunset view of the town and the bay.
